Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below outlines reserved time periods - not exams that have been confirmed. Please confirm with your instructor if your course will be taking its final exam during this time.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please refer to the individual exam pages for additional information regarding exam content, exam rules and conditions, and other guidelines. If you need special accommodations because of chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, or any other disability Contact the exam provider and provide detailed information when you register.
Faculty may find their exam times by using the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. In addition the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for evening classes are scheduled during the regular class times of the final examination weeks.
Please note that the Projected University Examination Schedule is only a guideline and that final exam dates are subject to change.
Registration
Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. However, it is important to keep in mind that the final exam schedule may be altered at any time. For this reason, students should consult their instructors to confirm that they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should be sure to print the official list and bring it for their exams.

In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and the terms and conditions. These can be found on the website for each exam. Students acknowledge that they have read and agree to the terms and conditions upon registration.
Exam locations will do their best to accommodate students with special requirements. The nature and extent of these requirements must be declared on the registration form, and then confirmed by an attestation of a doctor. Additionally, the exam locations must respect and maintain confidentiality.
If a student has three examinations scheduled for the same day, it is suggested that they contact their department or instructor to schedule an exam to make up. It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this can result in a lot of stress and can affect the quality of the exam. In addition, the professor might not be able to offer a makeup exam on another day.
Students must review their course material before taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The test is a written test that measures your ability to read and write, as well as speak German. The test results are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the that they have achieved the level of A1 in their language. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competency laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. If they do not present an ID with a valid photo are disqualified from the exam.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the course fees.
Practice tests give you an overview of the style, wording and level of questions on the exam. They allow you to assess your knowledge, identify gaps and increase your chances of acing the exam.
